We guide you through a love trip full of hearts and memories.

If you are looking to spend a special day with your loved one in Japan, which also leaves you with a unique memory that let you experience a traditional, raw aspect of Japanese culture, we might have just the right thing for you!

The love in Chikugo tour leads you into the Japanese countryside, far away from English menus and crowded shrines, but fear not since our local guide Mr. Suyama will stay by your side!

The Love in Chikugo tour will lead you to an Italian restaurant, a traditional Japanese indigo dyeing workshop, where you can design your own t-shirt, as well as a Kimono trip to the Koinoki shrine of love. Last but not least you will enjoy some delicious cute ice parfait at Woody, a cafe particular popular among local couples!

Transportation in Chikugo, food, drinks, kimono and workshop fee, everything is in the price included. You will also receive a cute stamp book as a gift so you can start your collection of Japanese shrine stamps!

To start a Chikugo tour, please come at JR Hainuduka Sta..

You can come from JR Hakata Sta..

Ciao Dolcezza

The way to the heart is through the stomach, so what would be a better start than an Italian restaurant? Choose out of a variety of different pastas, pizzas and salads. Got some questions regarding ingredients or want a vegetarian option? Our guide Mr. Suyama is here to assist you!

Ikeda Kasuri Koubou(Indigo textile Factory)

Our next stop is an indigo dyeing workshop at Ikeda Kasurikoubou. This traditional form of dyeing called Aizome goes back way over thousand years and is still used today!

First choose what kind of textile you want to dye. You can choose between a t-shirt, a cloth bag, a scarf and handkerchief and a towel! (The tour fee includes the price of a handkerchief. If you want a t-shirt or bag an additional fee is required. T-shirt/ bag 2500 Yen + tax, scarf 4000 Yen + tax.)

Now it is time to get creative! Think of your own design! There is a wide range of tools available and if you have an idea but are quite not able to figure out how to dot it the staff will gladly be to your help.

After you have decided on a design it is time to fix the forms so that they will not get lost during dyeing.

Now put on a pair of cloves and start dyeing by sinking the textile into the indigo colour over and over again! Don’t worry too much staff of Ikeda Kasurikoubou will make sure that your textile is immersed properly!

Now all that is left is to wait! Since the drying process is going to take some time we will use the time in between to make a short kimono trip!

You can choose your kimono directly at Ikeda Kasurikoubou and conveniently also get changed there!

Koinoki shrine and Mizuta tenmangu shrine

Now it is time to put the love into this tour! Koinoki Shrine, which is also known as the shrine of love, lies directly next to the big Mizutenmangu Shrine and is said to bring luck to couples who pray there together. While we can’t quite guarantee you eternal luck we can guarantee you that you will hardly find a shrine with as many heart shapes as this one in Japan. And like all shrines in Japan this one as well makes for an excellent scenery for some beautiful Japanese style photos, especially with your kimono.

If you are into visiting Japanese shrines, you also might have heard that at every shrine you can collect a stamp unique to that shrine. If you haven’t, don’t worry we got you covered. As a little gift we have a fitting stamp book for you which conveniently already includes the stamp of either Koinoki or Mizutenmangu to start your collection.

Our last stop before returning is Woody, a local cafe particularly popular among Japanese couples. Enjoy some ice parfait and some coffee, of course served in heart shaped crockery, and get some rest!

Now it is time to return to Ikeda Kasurikoubou to dress back and to receive your indigo dyed souvenir! It should be dried by now so you can properly gaze at your own finished design before we drive you back to the station.

Everyone how was it? We hope you enjoyed our short love tour through Chikugo!
